Maya Rent rents cinema cameras (ARRI, RED, Sony, Blackmagic, Canon), lenses, lighting, audio, tripods and grip, accessories and complete kits for film, advertising and video productions. We also offer crew and logistics and transport services.

Do you deliver the equipment?

Yes, on request we deliver across Italy: service terms and costs are agreed beforehand and, unless otherwise agreed in writing, are paid by the customer. You can also pick up and return the equipment at our operating address, Via Capo di Lucca 12, 40126 Bologna. For delivery costs and timing, contact us or see the logistics and transport page.

I have never used some of this equipment. Can I try it first?

Question 5

How is the rental price calculated?

Accepted Answer

Prices are per day, shown in euros plus VAT on each product page. For some high-end equipment the price is on request. There is no minimum rental period.

Question 6

How do weekend rentals work?

Accepted Answer

We are closed on Saturday and Sunday: for weekend rentals you can pick up the equipment on Friday and return it on Monday at no extra cost.

My shoot lasts one day but is far from Bologna. Do I pay for more days?

Yes, every day the equipment is out counts, including travel days.

Where can I find the contract I will sign for the rental?

Is a deposit required?

Accepted Answer

Yes: at handover you pay a security deposit of 30% of the total equipment value, unless a different amount is agreed in writing. It is refunded within 5 working days of completing the return check, minus any amounts due. In case of damage or missing items it may be held until the amount owed has been determined.

Is insurance included?

Accepted Answer

No, insurance is not included in the rental price. It is mandatory when the replacement-as-new value of the equipment exceeds 5,000 euros: you can activate All Risks cover under Maya Rent's Chubb policy (premium 0.198% of the insured value for Italy/EU or 0.396% for non-EU countries, per 10-day period or part thereof, plus taxes, with a minimum of 10 euros per project) or provide your own policy accepted by Maya Rent. Below 5,000 euros it is optional, unless Maya Rent requests it. The policy only covers direct physical damage to the equipment, with excesses and deductibles: in any case you remain responsible for damage and theft.

Can I cancel a confirmed rental?

Yes, by written notice only. For rentals under 1,000 euros: free of charge up to 48 hours before pickup or delivery; between 48 and 24 hours before, 50% of the rental fee is withheld; with less than 24 hours' notice, or no notice, 100%. For rentals of 1,000 euros or more: free of charge more than 7 days before; between 7 and 3 days before, 50% is withheld; in the last 3 days, or with no notice, 100%.

Can I add items at pickup?

Yes, if available. We recommend placing a new order or replying to the confirmation with what you want to add.

Question 15

I am a minor. Can I rent?

Accepted Answer

Only if the contract is in the name of a parent or guardian. A signed authorisation at our office is also required.

Question 16

Can I pick up the day before without paying extra?

Accepted Answer

Yes, if you pick up after 5:00 pm the day before and return by 11:00 am the next day, you do not pay for extra days.

Question 17

I am being charged for more rental days even though my shoot lasts one. Why?

Accepted Answer

The system counts a single day only if you pick up after 5:00 pm the day before and return by 11:00 am the next day. Outside these times, an extra day is added.

Question 18

Someone else is collecting for me. What do they need to know?

Accepted Answer

The person collecting must have your written authorisation and an ID document. Handover to them counts as handover to you, and you remain responsible for everything set out in the contract.

Question 19

The equipment is not working. What do I do?

Accepted Answer

Call us or message us on WhatsApp at +39 329 086 5344. Stop using the equipment and notify us in writing within 12 hours.

I cannot change a setting. What can I do?

Check the online manual. If you cannot find an answer, call us on +39 329 086 5344.

Question 21

The equipment was damaged during the rental. What now?

Accepted Answer

Stop using the equipment and write to info@mayarent.com right away describing the damage (photos or video help). Do not open the equipment or have it repaired by third parties: we will help you find a solution. The procedures are set out in the contract.

Question 22

The equipment was stolen. What should I do?

Accepted Answer

Report it to the authorities (Carabinieri or Police) within 24 hours. Take the delivery note (DDT) with you, then email us a copy of the report at info@mayarent.com within the same deadline. If you are responsible, you will have to pay the replacement-as-new value stated in the contract, minus any insurance payout. Come to the return date anyway.

Can I extend my rental period?

Only by opening a new booking. If you do not return on time without telling us, you risk extra costs.

Question 24

By when must the equipment be returned?

Accepted Answer

Return is by 11:00 am on the agreed date, at our Bologna office. Partial returns are not accepted.

Question 25

I will be late returning the equipment. Are there penalties?

Accepted Answer

Yes: for each day or part of a day of delay you pay the daily rental rate plus a penalty of 50% of the daily rate (minimum 100 euros). We may also claim any further damages caused by the delay.

Question 26

I cannot return the equipment in person. Can I send someone?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the person returning it must attend the final check and sign. If anything is missing, they take responsibility for it.

Question 27

Can I ship the return with a courier?

Accepted Answer

Only if agreed in writing: normally returns are made at our Bologna office. Transport costs and risks are yours, and the package is accepted only "subject to reservation" until it has been checked.

Question 28

Something is missing during the check. What happens?

Accepted Answer

The return is signed "subject to reservation" and any repair or refund procedures begin. If an item was swapped or forgotten, a new return is arranged.

Question 29

How can I prove I returned everything?

Accepted Answer

Our staff carries out the check and signs the Return Form with you. We email you a copy. The ordinary check continues within 48 working hours of the return.
